U.S. Air Force, Johnson & Johnson top EPA Green Power List
The top 25 green power purchasers are buying enough energy to run more than 150,000 homes a year, according to EPA. The top-25 list includes a diverse set of companies and organizations that have voluntarily bought the most renewable energy and are part of EPA's Green Power Partnership. Together, the top 25 are purchasing more than 1.6 million MWh (megawatt hours) of green power annually.

NREL highlights leading utility green power programs
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) released its annual ranking of leading utility green power programs. Under these voluntary programs, consumers can choose to help support additional electricity production from renewable resources such as solar and wind. Nearly 600 utilities in 34 states now offer these programs.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company recognized for efforts to protect and enhance forestry
Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy, announced it has been honored with a Tree Line USA award by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its work in preserving and replenishing the supply of trees across its Central Maryland service territory. The award was presented during the Trees and Utilities Conference in Omaha, Nebraska.

Entergy extends application deadline for environmental grants
Entergy Corporation is still accepting applications for the company's sixth annual Environmental Stewardship Grant program. The program, which awarded a total of $150,000 in 2004, provides support to community-based projects that protect, enhance or preserve the environment. Grants are available up to $25,000, but typically range between $5,000 and $10,000. The application deadline is May 31, 2005.
