Southern Company issues report on climate change actions
Southern Company, one of the nation's largest producers of energy, released climate change and increasingly stringent requirements related to other emissions from its power plants.

Restaurants join fight for clean air: ABF producing clean fuel from used restaurant oils
American Biofuels, LLC (ABF), 35% owned by Green Star Products, Inc., announced it is producing biodiesel at its Biodiesel Plant in Bakersfield, California, from used restaurant waste oils.

DuPont refrigerant expert receives U.S. EPA Climate Protection Award
Martin Drigotas, DuPont Automotive Refrigerants manager, was awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Protection Award for his role as a founder of the Improved Mobile Air Conditioning Cooperative Research Program (IMAC). Launched in April 2004, the IMAC research program is an ambitious collaborative effort to deliver dramatic increases in the energy efficiency and substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

American Electric Power is being recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2005 Climate Protection Award for demonstrating ingenuity, leadership and public purpose in its efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.

FPL Energy begins commercial operation of Weatherford Wind Energy Center
FPL Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group, announced it has begun commercial operation at its 106.5-megawatt (MW) Weatherford Wind Energy Center, located near Weatherford, Oklahoma, and plans to expand the project by 40.5 MW.
