Power Systems Mfg.'s low emissions technology to eliminate 90% of power plant NOx emissions Power Systems Mfg., LLC (PSM), the Calpine Corporation manufacturing and parts subsidiary, was selected to install PSM's low emissions combustion technology, trade named LEC-III®, at a major merchant power generator's 600-megawatt cogeneration power plant in the Houston, Texas area. PSM will convert five GE Frame 7E gas turbines with its proprietary system to eliminate approximately 90-percent of the power plant's nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
Risk assessment finds gas distribution standards protect public health With recent risk analysis showing that current gasoline distribution industry air toxics standards protect public health, EPA is proposing that further controls on the industry are not warranted. EPA's 1994 air toxics standards for the gas distribution industry limit emissions at terminals where gasoline is loaded into trucks for delivery to gas stations.
AEP expands CO2 reduction commitment through 2010 American Electric Power announced the company will expand and extend its commitment to voluntarily reduce, avoid or sequester its greenhouse gas emissions through 2010 and will continue its membership in the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), the first voluntary, legally binding greenhouse gas emissions reduction and trading program in North America.
Proposed Yucca Mountain Standards to protect public health for a million years EPA is proposing public health standards for the planned high-level radioactive waste disposal facility at Yucca Mountain, Nevada that will protect public health for 1 million years. Federal plan proposed to ensure power plant pollution cuts To ensure emissions reductions required under the landmark Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) are achieved, EPA is proposing a federal implementation plan (FIP) to require power plants in CAIR states to participate in one or more of three separate cap and trade programs. As part of this action, EPA is also responding to North Carolina's March 2004 petition under section 126 of the Clean Air Act.
