Appliance Recycling Centers of America reports improved 2004 operating results Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Inc. reported revenues of $52,830,000 for the year ended January 1, 2005, an increase of 21% from $43,609,000 in 2003. ARCA also reported a net loss of $1,314,000 or $0.48 per share in 2004, down from the net loss of $1,541,000 or $0.66 per share in the prior year.

Sammis Station, a coal-fired power plant in Stratton, Ohio.
EPA announces first-ever rule to reduce mercury emissions from power plants Acting Administrator Steve Johnson will sign the Clean Air Mercury Rule, a rule that will significantly reduce mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants across the country. Taken together, the recently issued Clean Air Interstate Rule and the new Clean Air Mercury Rule will reduce electric utility mercury emissions by nearly 70 percent from 1999 levels when fully implemented.

Governor Schwarzenegger to release million solar roofs bill On Monday February 28, Governor Schwarzenegger's office released the details of the California Million Solar Roofs bill (SB1). The bill creates a ten year incentive program to help Californians install one million solar electric rooftops on homes and businesses throughout the state over the next 13 years.
Nearly 10 percent of homes in 2004 qualified for Energy Star Nearly 10 percent of all homes built in 2004 qualified for Energy Star, according to an EPA report. Since 1995 more than 350,000 of the nation's new homes have met Energy Star ratings, saving homeowners an estimated $200 million and eliminating approximately 4 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to the emissions of about 150,000 vehicles.
U.S. Greenhouse Gas Inventory released for public comment EPA has released a draft of the annual Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks: 1990-2003 for a 30-day public comment period. This year's inventory indicates that greenhouse gas emissions increased by 0.6 percent from 2002 to 2003, remaining below emission levels in 2000.
Progress Energy to issue report on environmental actions, climate change Progress Energy announced that it will issue a report on the company's activities associated with current and future environmental requirements. The report will be issued by March 31, 2006.
