G&W Electric celebrates 100 year milestone G&W Electric Company is celebrating 100 years of service to the electric power industry. The company was founded in 1905 when Harry Gear and Paul Williams, two Commonwealth Edison engineers, had a better idea for connecting underground to overhead cables. The result was the first detachable style porcelain pothead, now referred to as a cable termination.
Allegheny Energy completes sale of interest in Ohio Valley Electric Corporation Allegheny Energy, Inc. and its subsidiary, Allegheny Energy Supply Company, LLC, announced that they have completed the sale of their equity interest and power rights in the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation (OVEC). Cash proceeds from the sale total $102 million.
Duquesne Light successfully integrated into PJM Duquesne Light Company, a subsidiary of Duquesne Light Holdings, and PJM Interconnection, one of world's largest electricity grid operator, announced that at midnight (ET) PJM began managing the flow of wholesale electricity for the Pittsburgh, Pa., based electric utility. Duquesne Light serves 1.3 million people who live in 810 square miles of western Pennsylvania.
