TXU Corp. agrees to settle shareholder class action litigation
TXU Corp. announced that it reached a comprehensive settlement regarding the consolidated amended securities class action lawsuit initially filed against the company in October 2002. The agreement, in which TXU Corp. denies any liability, includes a one-time payment of $150 million to the class members, which are purchasers of TXU Corp. securities between April 26, 2001 and October 11, 2002, and, subject to Board of Directors approval, the adoption of certain corporate governance initiatives.

Black & Veatch acquires R.J. Rudden Associates, Inc. and Lukens Energy Group, Inc.
Black & Veatch Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of R.J. Rudden Associates, Inc. (Rudden) located in Hauppauge, New York, a premier strategic, economic and management consulting company specializing in the electric utility industry, and Lukens Energy Group, Inc. (Lukens) located in Houston, Texas, a preeminent management consulting group serving senior management in the oil and gas industry in strategy, risk mitigation, valuation and regulatory matters.
T&b acquires Southern Monopole
Thomas & Betts Corporation announced that it has purchased the assets of Southern Monopole and Utilities Company, a subsidiary of the Qualico Steel Company, Inc. for approximately $16 million in cash. Southern Monopole manufactures steel poles used for electrical transmission and substations, lattice utility towers, cellular communications and lighting. Thomas & Betts expects the transaction to be slightly accretive to 2005 earnings.
Two Progress Energy departments incorporate Acronis True Image for disaster recovery
Acronis, Inc., a technological leader in storage management solutions, announced that the Combustion Turbine and Fossil Generation Departments of Progress Energy, Inc. based in Raleigh, NC, and St. Petersburg, FL has incorporated Acronis True Image 8.0 into its process control systems disaster recovery program. The company improved its disaster recovery readiness by upgrading its process control systems' computers to the latest release of the Acronis software.
