FirstEnergy announces sale of retail gas business to Amerada Hess
FirstEnergy Corp. has agreed to sell its FirstEnergy Solutions subsidiary's retail natural gas business to Amerada Hess Corporation. FirstEnergy Solutions supplied natural gas to approximately 1,900 commercial and industrial customers in selected areas within Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Terms of the transactions are governed by a confidentiality agreement. This divestiture is consistent with FirstEnergy's strategy to focus on its core electric business.
NRC seeks public comment on design certification regulation for Westinghouse AP1000 advanced reactor design
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is seeking public comment on a proposed addition to its regulations to certify the Westinghouse AP1000 advanced reactor design. If approved, the certification would allow a utility to reference the design when applying for a nuclear power plant license.
BayCcorp closes $10.25 million convertible debt financing
BayCorp Holdings, Ltd. ("BayCorp") announced that it has closed a $10.25 million convertible debt financing with Sloan Group Ltd. The debt, which accrues interest at 8% and is due on December 15, 2005, is convertible at any time between November 15, 2005 and December 15, 2005 into shares of the Company's common stock at a price of $14.04 per share.
Invensys donates software extensions
Process Systems announced that it has transferred ownership of critical software extensions for FOUNDATION fieldbus to the PACTware Consortium. These Invensys-developed extensions enable PACTware frame applications to integrate FDT-based FOUNDATION fieldbus components.
