ABB acquires Malton Equipment Company Inc. ABB, a power and automation technology company, announced it has acquired the assets of Malton Equipment Company Inc. in the United States. Malton is a supplier of padmount switches that provide protection and control for underground electrical distribution networks.

PUCN approves electric increase to reflect rising energy prices The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved an overall 4.4 percent increase for Sierra Pacific Power Company's northern Nevada electric customers, to reflect the rise in fuel and energy costs. The new rates, effective June 1, 2005, will result in a $3.67 per month increase, from $82.77 to $86.44, for the typical residential customer using 715 kilowatt hours of electricity. Sierra Pacific Power Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sierra Pacific Resources.

The EnergyAxis System is an advanced metering automation system for residential, commercial, and industrial applications featuring Elster's single phase electronic REX® meter and A3 ALPHA® meter collector.
PennFuture pleased that DEP intends to regulate mercury, disappointed that DEP fails to follow New Jersey's example Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future (PennFuture) called the response from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to PennFuture's request that DEP begin regulating poisonous mercury emissions from the state's power plants, "hopeful, yet disappointing." The DEP answer to the August 2004 request for rulemaking on toxic mercury comes on the same day Pennsylvania has joined with other states in suing the federal government for its failure to protect the public's health from mercury.
APS purchase of Sundance Generating Station complete Arizona Public Service Company (APS) announced today that it has completed its $190-million acquisition from PPL Corporation of the 450-megawatt Sundance Generating Station near Coolidge, Ariz.
NSTAR to use TeleVox Software Inc.'s HouseCalls for customer communication TeleVox Software, Inc., a developer of telephony-based communications, has been chosen as the customer relationship messaging provider for NSTAR, Massachusetts' largest investor-owned electric and gas utility. HouseCalls, TeleVox's automated outbound messaging system, will deliver messages to many of NSTAR's nearly 1.4 million residential and business customers in over 100 communities.
PPL Completes Sale of Sundance Power Plant PPL Corporation has completed the sale of the 450-megawatt Sundance power plant to the Arizona Public Service Company for approximately $190 million in cash.
