Interstate Power and Light Company files for regulatory approval of Duane Arnold Energy Center sale agreement Interstate Power and Light Co. (IP&L), the Iowa utility subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation, filed a joint application with the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) for approval of its sale agreement with FPL Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. to sell the company's 70 percent ownership interest in the 598-megawatt Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC), a nuclear generating facility located near Palo, Iowa.
Alliant Energy's Wisconsin utility plans to seek recovery of incremental costs associated with coal conservation efforts Alliant Energy announced that Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WP&L) plans to take steps to recover incremental purchased power energy costs associated with coal conservation efforts currently underway. WP&L plans to file a deferral request with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to seek and obtain recovery of such incremental retail electric costs, currently estimated to range from $14 million to $22 million.
Active Power receives 5.4 MVA UPS order Active Power, Inc. announced receipt of a new order from Caterpillar Inc. for four 1200 kVA flywheel uninterruptible power supply ("UPS") systems and two 300 kVA UPS systems. The units will be used to protect the state-of-the- art high speed printing operation of a large communications company in the Southeast United States. Shipment is expected to take place within the next two quarters.
MDSI to be acquired by Vista Equity Partners MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. has entered into an Arrangement Agreement (the "Agreement") to be acquired by an investment vehicle managed by Vista Equity Partners ("Vista"), a private equity investment firm based in San Francisco, CA. Under the Agreement, Vista will acquire all of the outstanding shares of MDSI for US$8.00 cash per share.
Central Hudson seeks permission to raise energy delivery rates Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation has filed a petition with the New York State Public Service Commission which, if approved, would increase the rates it charges to deliver electricity and natural gas to customers in its eight-county Mid-Hudson Valley service territory for the first time in more than a decade.

Calpine completes sale of its Saltend Energy Centre A Calpine Corporation subsidiary has completed the sale of its 1,200-megawatt Saltend Energy Centre in Hull, England for a total purchase price of £490 million, or approximately $US848 million, plus adjustments for working capital of $US14.5 million. The transaction, which has generated total gross proceeds to Calpine of $US862.5 million (subject to post-closing adjustment), is part of the company's strategic program to reduce debt and optimize its power plant portfolio.
Progress Energy names world-class performing arts center in Raleigh Progress Energy and the city of Raleigh announced a 20-year partnership to rename the BTI Center the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, effective immediately. The Progress Energy Center includes Meymandi Hall, Fletcher Auditorium, the Kennedy Theatre and the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
