City of Maitland approves new franchise with Progress Energy
The Maitland City Council voted Monday to formally approve a new 30-year electric utility franchise agreement with Progress Energy Florida.

NIPSCO reaches settlement agreement with OUCC regarding power purchases from Whiting Clean Energy
Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) and the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) have reached an agreement, which affirms that the utility be allowed to purchase power from Whiting Clean Energy, Inc. The agreement has been filed with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) and is subject to IURC approval.

Hughes Supply to acquire TVESCO, Inc.
Hughes Supply, Inc. announced that it has entered into a purchase agreement to acquire TVESCO, Inc., a Tennessee Valley-based distributor of electric utility and electrical products. Hughes anticipates that the closing will occur on or about August 29, 2005, subject to customary closing conditions.

Higher natural gas costs force UES to seek new surcharge
UniSource Energy Services (UES) has asked the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) to approve a new surcharge on customers' gas bills beginning Oct. 1 to recover the rising cost of natural gas purchases.

PNM Resources, PNM expand revolving credit facilities
PNM Resources announced it has closed a $600 million revolving credit facility that increases the size and extends the maturity through Aug. 15, 2010, of its current $400 million facility. The new credit facility, which has options for one- and two-year additional extensions, includes 19 lenders and is led by Bank of America and Wachovia Bank.

Ionic's Fabricated Products Division joining GE Energy
In a move designed to further expand GE's offerings to the global nuclear industry, Ionics Fabricated Products Division will be integrated into GE Energy's nuclear segment, based in Wilmington, N.C.

Calpine to sell Ontelaunee Energy Center for $225 million
Calpine Corporation has agreed to sell its 550-megawatt Ontelaunee Energy Center to LS Power Equity Partners, LP (LS Power) for $225 million. The asset sale is part of Calpine's strategic initiative to reduce debt and optimize its power plant portfolio. Since launching its strategic initiative in May 2005, Calpine has completed or announced more than $2 billion of asset sales.
