Russian Electric Power Company to use EPRI's Common Information Model to ease data exchange
RAO UES has committed to replacing its central and regional energy management systems with modern state-of-the-art systems. At a meeting held earlier this month, top managers from RAO UES and from Russia's major infrastructure energy organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding acknowledging the importance of using the EPRI-facilitated industry Common Information Model as the principal mechanism for enabling compatibility of information within the Russian electric power system .

American Electric Power and Dayton Power and Light successfully integrated into PJM
AEP Service Corporation, a subsidiary of American Electric Power; Dayton Power and Light Company, a subsidiary of DPL Inc.; and PJM Interconnection announced that at midnight (EDT) PJM began managing the flow of wholesale electricity over more than 23,000 additional miles of high-voltage transmission lines and administering open, competitive wholesale electricity trading markets. Of the additional lines, 22,300 miles are owned by AEP and 1,000 miles are owned by DP&L.

LIPA board approves Neptune undersea cable project
The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) Board of Trustees approved a 20-year contract with Neptune Regional Transmission System LLC (NeptuneRTS™) to construct and operate an undersea high-voltage transmission cable capable of supplying up to 660 megawatts of electricity to Long Island by 2007.

Southern Company announces wholesale power agreement with North Carolina Municipal Power Agency Number 1
Southern Company announced that it has signed a contract to provide additional wholesale power to North Carolina Municipal Power Agency Number 1 (NCMPA1).
