Cleco Corp. announced the sale of substantially all of the assets of Cleco Energy LLC, its subsidiary that controlled natural gas pipelines and oil and gas production assets.

Capgemini Energy transfers Waco customer care center operations to Atmos Energy
Capgemini Energy LP, a joint venture between Capgemini and TXU, announced today that Atmos Energy has agreed in principle to assume the operations of its Waco Customer Care Center, pending resolution of remaining business matters. The agreement affects approximately 300 employees whose responsibilities included handling customer calls for Atmos Energy.

CenterPoint Energy receives PUC ruling on true-up case; company moving to securitize approved amount; will seek a rehearing
CenterPoint Energy, Inc. expressed disappointment with the decision announced today by the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) which approved about $2.0 billion of the company's electric transmission and distribution subsidiary's $3.7 billion true-up request. The Commission also approved approximately $300 million in interest bringing the total true-up recovery amount to about $2.3 billion.

Visa USA announced that it will launch a multi-pronged campaign to expand card acceptance at residential utilities companies. To develop this next frontier in bill payments, Visa will offer a reduced incentive fee structure, address consumer convenience fee barriers, demonstrate how utility operation expenses can be curbed through acceptance, and provide specialized support services.

Upgrades at key SDG&E transmission site improve reliability, reduce energy costs
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) recently energized a new 500-kilovolt (kV) switchyard and transformer at its Miguel substation site in Bonita two months ahead of schedule, improving the reliability of the utility's energy-delivery system and reducing costs for Southern California customers by $18 million annually, according to SDG&E officials.
