Duke Power to lower S.C. industrial rates by 2.8 percent
The Public Service Commission of South Carolina approved Duke Power's proposal for a one-year rate reduction that will lower industrial customers' electric rates by an average of 2.8 percent for one year beginning Oct. 1, 2004. The rate reduction builds on the company's efforts to assist the industrial sector in its North Carolina and South Carolina service area by providing financial relief on monthly power bills.

Signaling the latest expansion of its environmental services capabilities, GE Energy has completed its acquisition of BHA Group Holdings, Inc., a leading global provider of high quality parts, services and performance upgrades for particulate matter control systems. The acquisition was approved at a BHA shareholders meeting on August 27.

Merrill Lynch to acquire energy trading operations of Entergy-Koch, LP
Merrill Lynch & Co. announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the energy trading businesses of Entergy-Koch, LP, (EKLP) a venture of Entergy Corporation, and privately owned Koch Energy, Inc., a subsidiary of Koch Industries, Inc. EKLP retains ownership of gas pipeline and storage assets.
Calpine completes $223 million sale of Rocky Mountain gas reserves
Calpine Corporation has completed the sale of its natural gas reserves in the Colorado Piceance Basin and New Mexico San Juan Basin for approximately $223 million. As previously announced, two U.S. gas companies acquired these assets for approximately $140 million and approximately $83 million, respectively, less adjustments to reflect a July 1, 2004 effective date.
Alliant Energy sells assets of gas marketing business
Alliant Energy Corp. announced that it successfully completed the sale of substantially all of the assets of NG Energy Trading, LLC to BP Canada Energy Marketing Corporation. NG Energy Trading, which is based in Oklahoma City, is part of Alliant Energy Resources', Inc., (AER) Integrated Services (ISCO) business platform. AER is the parent company of Alliant Energy's non-regulated businesses.
Tantalus completes $16 million private equity financing
Tantalus Systems Corp., a designer and manufacturer of data communications networks for utilities, is pleased to announce the completion of a CAD $16 million private equity financing. The financing syndicate includes Altira Group LLC, ARC Financial Corporation, British Columbia Discovery Fund (VCC) Inc., Sanders Morris Harris Group and Pender Growth Fund (VCC) Inc.
