Entergy provides preliminary third quarter earnings guidance
Entergy Corporation indicated that based primarily on recent weather patterns and events, it expects third quarter as-reported and operational earnings to be in the range of 15 percent below amounts reported in the comparable period of 2003. As-reported and operational earnings will include the impact of weather, which was significantly milder than experienced in more than a decade across Entergy's service territory.

Reliant Energy to offer competitive electricity supply in Duquesne light service territory
Reliant Energy announced it plans to offer competitively priced electric service to large commercial, industrial and institutional customers in Western Pennsylvania. Marketing activities will begin later this fall for service starting in January.

This leading provider of insurance and financial services uses Dialogue to electronically produce the myriad of documents it sends to its agents on an ongoing basis, eliminating the need to print, warehouse and mail them.

Constellation Energy names Simon managing director-national energy policy and regulatory affairs
Constellation Energy announced that Julie Simon has been named managing director-national energy policy and regulatory affairs. Most recently, Simon served as vice president of policy for the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) in Washington, D.C. She will report to Paul J. Allen, senior vice president - corporate affairs.

Foster Wheeler announces consolidation of global power business under Bud Cherry
Foster Wheeler Ltd. announced that it has consolidated the management of its two power businesses into one global business under the leadership of Bud Cherry. The business unit will be known as Foster Wheeler Global Power Group, and Cherry is its chief executive officer. The combined businesses represent the business group the Company's securities filings have historically referred to as its Energy Group.

PNM declares preferred dividend
The board of directors of PNM, the principal subsidiary of PNM Resources, has declared the regular quarterly dividend of $1.145 per share on the 4.58 percent series of cumulative preferred stock. The preferred stock dividend is payable Oct. 15, 2004, to shareholders of record at the close of business Oct. 1, 2004.

BayDorp announces stock repurchase program
BayCorp Holdings, Ltd. ("BayCorp") announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to 100,000 shares of its common stock on the open market or in negotiated transactions. BayCorp completed its previously authorized repurchase plan, buying 93,551 shares of common stock at an average price of $13.07 per share.

Catawba Nuclear Station sets company record
Catawba Nuclear Station, operated by Duke Power, set a company reliability record operating unit 2 for 531 continuous days. The record ended Sept. 11 when the unit was taken off line for a planned maintenance and refueling outage. During this period, Catawba generated more than 14.7 billion kilowatt-hours, enough to supply electricity to more than 1 million households.

NRG Energy, Inc. signs agreement to sell Kendall generating station
NRG Energy, Inc., has reached an agreement for the sale of its 1,160 megawatt (MW) generating plant in Minooka, Illinois to an affiliate of LS Power Associates, L.P. NRG has the right to reacquire a 40 percent interest in the project within a 10-year period, for a nominal amount.
