Cooper Power Systems reaches agreement with SPEPA for AMI solution

Waukesha, WI, Aug. 19, 2008 -- Cooper Power Systems has reached agreement with Southern Pine Electric Power Association (SPEPA) to provide the utility with the company's power line carrier (PLC) advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution. SPEPA has more than 64,000 meters throughout its service territory spanning 11 counties in south central Mississippi.

The Yukon Advanced Energy Services Platform is the cornerstone software of Cooper's Energy Automation Solutions business, said the company. Yukon's scalability is designed to provide utilities with the opportunity to expand their system to include demand response, centralized capacitor bank control, substation integration and monitoring, feeder automation, outage detection and notification, and secure enterprise-wide substation data.

SPEPA will utilize Yukon to locate outages expeditiously, offer its members flexible rates, automate the utility's distribution assets, increase operational efficiencies, and improve the disconnect/reconnect procedures.
