Peterborough, NH, July 7, 2008 -- A significant brain and body drain is occurring throughout the energy industry, and major initiatives must be put in place to match the supply of human resource capabilities to the demand for and technical requirements of the business, according to new research from Kennedy Information.
"While this demographic shift in the energy industry represents an imminent opportunity for consultants, 'body shopping' is rarely a desired situation over the long term," states Tom Rodenhauser, Kennedy's vice president of consulting research.
Other key trends within the global energy consulting industry analyzed in "Energy and Utilities Consulting Marketplace 2008-2011" include the re-alignment of business models as driven by newly acquired technical data; a determination of the energy mix of the future; acceleration of major capital projects to help offset limited refining capacities; and the further effects of dwindling natural resources.
The initiatives will contribute to energy companies' combined consulting spend of over $50 billion by 2011, according to Kennedy projections.
