Brazos Electric selects MeterSmart as demand response program administrator

Arlington, TX, April 1, 2008 -- MeterSmart L.P. announced that it has been retained by Brazos Electric Power Co-op Inc. (Brazos), a generation and transmission cooperative with service territories extending from the Texas Panhandle to Houston, to administer the Brazos Load Curtailment Program for summer 2008.

Under the program, Brazos offers its distribution cooperative members the ability to provide a demand response program to their retail customers in return for a monthly reservation payment and incentive payments for actual energy curtailed. Brazos utilizes the program to help manage its wholesale power cost while also providing its distribution cooperative members the opportunity to enhance their demand-side programs.

Under the terms of the agreement with MeterSmart, Brazos utilizes MeterSmart's Encentra advanced customer program management software product and other services provided by MeterSmart for program enrollment, event scheduling, participant notifications, and measurement and verification of performance.
