Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Dec. 14, 2007 -- Emaar Properties selected an Elster advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution for its Burj Dubai high-rise project. Upon completion, the Burj Dubai (Dubai Tower) will be the tallest free standing building in the world and will utilize Elster's Meridian System for tenant consumption metering and the collection of metering data.
Installation of the Meridian System with the A1350 ALPHA meters began in October 2007 with implementation throughout 2008. Emaar Properties plans to commission the system by the fourth quarter of 2008.
The Meridian System will utilize the Ethernet network within Burj Dubai to communicate with 1,287 A1350 ALPHA meters. The A1350 ALPHA meter is an electronic polyphase meter for residential and light commercial customers with load profile storage. The project is being managed by Elster Electricity's UAE branch office with product and technical support provided by Elster business units. Elster Messtechnik in Germany will manufacture and support the A1350 ALPHA meters. Elster Integrated Solutions in Raleigh, North Carolina is responsible for delivery and support of the Meridian System.
