LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- NMT Corporation has introduced FAAR 3, the newest member of the FAAR Suite of software representing the next generation of the most widely used AM/FM/GIS viewing software in the world. While FAAR 3 maintains the easy-to-use search and navigation functions of previous versions of the software, the new release offers powerful new functions including:
Tracing - Display connections between objects downstream or upstream or in either direction by number of hops or by distance.
Smart objects - Line or point objects that are highlighted when the cursor moves over them allowing access to detailed information about the object being viewed.
Visibility levels - Set layers to be turned on/off when the view scale reaches a certain level.
Profiles - Define view configurations that choose which classes, layers and non-graphical data types are displayed, set visibility levels and determine which selectors appear in the toolbar when the profile is selected.
Toolbars - Configure menu and toolbar settings to include and display only the options important to the user. Users can design and select their own custom images for Selector, Profile and User Tool menu buttons.
Dynamic configuration settings - Allows all available configuration settings to be set from inside the application. Administrative settings can be distributed to the field without changing user-specific settings.
In addition, new HTML help includes a Glossary tab, Favorites tab and drop-text that allows detailed information to be hidden behind links unless needed.
FAAR 3 combines data from sources such as GIS, CAD, raster or other resources to provide easy access to a seamless array of information. FAAR 3 also grows right along with your data. Workers can update information with notes, symbols, and customizable data entry. The new data can then be converted to a neutral format for import into your GIS or database system, allowing system-wide access to the latest information.
FAAR 3 integrates with applications like outage management, work order management or any other application that would benefit from having access to your geographic data. FAAR 3 provides a set of objects and interfaces that allow you to embed the FAAR viewer within your application or to open a new window centered at a specific location in FAAR itself.
While FAAR 3 offers you greater functionality, the software retains its reputation as being easy to learn and simple to use. Training time is measured in hours, even for the computer novice.
