ATLANTA (December 15, 2004) -- NewEnergy Associates, A Siemens Company announced that Ameren Services Company. (Ameren) has licensed NewEnergy's transmission & production simulation solutions, PROMOD IV® and PowerBase™. Ameren expects to deploy the integrated PowerBase Suite as part of its strategy for entering the new Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (Midwest ISO) market place that opens in March 2005.
"The MISO Day 2 operation plan is expected to bring significant changes for all participants in the Midwest ISO. Ameren is examining how Ameren's demand/resource portfolio will be positioned after MISO Day 2 with the help of NewEnergy software and expertise," said Ajay Arora, Managing Supervisor of Commercial Transactions at Ameren.
As the MISO Day 2 markets develop, the NewEnergy solution will be used by Ameren to examine the cost/benefit and risk potential of their demand/resource portfolios within the MISO Day 2 operations. The PowerBase Suite (including PROMOD IV and PowerBase) will assist Ameren in the identification of potential trading opportunities and quantification of the economic benefits arising from transmission expansion proposals. Ameren has already leveraged the PowerBase Suite in their recent evaluation of MISO FTR nominations and analysis of the risk associated with FTR nominations for the first year of MISO Day 2. As the first year of MISO Day 2 operations come to a close in 2006, Ameren plans to expand use of the PowerBase Suite for the monthly FTR auctions.
"Ameren's use of NewEnergy's expertise and the PowerBase Suite for FTRs is a textbook example of how the strategic development of our software truly stems from the needs of the marketplace. Energy companies participating in the MISO Day 2 environment will need this type of analysis to manage their future success and plan for it. We look forward to helping others support their decisions, regardless of whether they leverage our software or our consulting services, such as our FTR Analysis Report," said Deane Price, President of NewEnergy Associates, A Siemens Company.
